Loff – Organic vegetarian restaurant review

Loff is an organic vegetarian buffet restaurant in Breda. Our initial plan was to walk there from the station, but it suddenly started pouring outside. Needless to say we took the bus instead and arrived almost in front of Loff.

Located in a white building, the interior is stylish and bright. Natural lighting is wonderfully achieved through big windows at the front, back and even the ceiling. A perfect place for photo shoots! It even has a sitting area outside for the warmer days.

Pay by weight

We’ve been to restaurants with a pay by weight concept before and it’s a great way to keep food waste to a minimum. A friendly staff member explained to us how it worked. You fill your plate at the buffet bar and let it weigh at the counter. The price of every plate and drink will be saved on a card, which is given to you after being seated. And when leaving, you just take the card to the counter and pay the total amount.

The food was freshly prepared in the open kitchen and lots of vegan options were available. Every dish had a label with the ingredients written on it, very useful if you are allergic to certain things or looking for the vegan choices.

Round 1

After ordering our drinks and taking photos of the interior, it was finally time for food. We both filled our plates with a bit of everything. This way we could find out which dishes deserved a second round.

We fell in love with the peas dip and seaweed dip right away. They were awesome with rice and potatoes. In case you’re wondering, that shiny black stuff was actually beetroots and apricots marinated in a sweet sauce. Though we tried to plate it as pretty as possible, it might not look as appetising as it tasted.

Round two

Off we go again. The dips were so addictive, we wouldn’t mind eating an entire plate of it.

Obviously, we couldn’t leave without dessert and picked up the only vegan option at the buffet bar, which was this yummy banana cake. The other cakes in the display had to be paid for separately and we felt those were a bit overpriced.

Overall impression

Loff is a great addition to the Dutch vegan/ vegetarian community! This place is gorgeous and the food was so fresh, just wished there were more vegan desserts at the buffet bar though. And since summer is almost here, we could totally imagine ourselves sitting in their garden enjoying a plate of peas or seaweed dip.
